Found the Flash Card..... wooohooo

Ok here we go.... This is another black and white glass the I made at the same time as the other back and white one previously posted.










Well here is two glasses that are somewhat similar due to the one on the right looked as if it had cracked when it was being put away. I used this mix a lot due to "The Wife" liking the mix. There will be a few more here that have the same mix.
This is just a bowl that was about the 3rd dish like this due to the first one did not work out to well it was a plate the needed more heat.

Pictures & Glow Snot

Ok... I go to start posting a ton of pictures and can not find my flash card that they were all downloaded to in the first place. Go figure! Well thus have to download them again to the laptop so that I can get them to the blog here. I will state that some of them are from about a month ago and I have some new ones of the Glow Glass (Glow snot as my brother would call it). I think he has hit the nail on the head with that due to the way it reacts with the clear. The powder does not want to stick and putting clear on it is some what of a tricky thing to do. This is because if you ever use this stuff you will see that it just falls right off the glass. There for you do not want to go in and gather right after picking it up and on top of that it does not melt into the clear. So to get it into the peace you got to have someone around to bring you a ball of clear to place over the top of the Snot and hope that it sticks. Recommend that if you use this stuff done make a bit out of it unless you turn it into taffy and mix it all together before putting it into something. Also if you use it as a lip wrap do not expect it to move very much. Will show a pick of a bowl that was spun out and well it is ok but where the wrap overlapped it was heavy and threw everything off along with not moving is was just a pain.

Fire Orange === not to great as a powder
Bright Blue === Very nice
Aqua ==== Very nice
Purple === Looks good (the piece I made with it did not survive the cool down so hard to say)

I have a few other colors but have not tried them due to wanting to get something out that did not include me working on it for more than an hour and a half.

Glass Weekend...

Well the weekend is almost here and it is a glass blowing weekend for me which I am excited about due to working in Placerville all week I was able to stop by Arrowsprings in talk with some people and got a bunch of free glow glass. As my brother would call it "glow snot" thanks to Sam there he gave me a little bit of everything for next to nothing and a little extra. So I am going to try this stuff out this weekend. For pictures, the picture download on the printer is not working for some stupid reason so I messed with that for about 3 hours trying to get it to work. Thus no pictures and maybe tonight I will just download the pictures straight from the camera. Well till then "Gravity is your friend....."

Ok here is the deal... I was back logged with work. Now .......... I am just being lazy due to me not wanting or having the energy to download the pictures from the camera. Driving back and forth from Placerville, also working on closing out a project for work and then sidework to make most of my ends meet and pay for glass blowing. Well hopefully soon here I will get off my butt and download some pictures and post them. Till then ...........

Sorry for not posting any pictures of the last 2 times that I have been at the shop. Got really busy at work and could not muster up the energy to post. For the next 2 day maybe I can get some time up to post pictures. The 2 days after that I will be in San Francisco for some work training that I really don't what to know, but I guess it will help me. After thinking about the training that work is sending me to, I have to perform more work and get paid the same. Now with already being underpaid make me even more sick of my job. Well enough of that... one of these days I will be doing what I really want to do and that is build houses. But till then I have to jump through the hop.

Update!!

Ok I finally got last Sundays pieces from the shop well the last Sunday that went with the Saturday of the previous posting. A few good pieces not bad tried to make some bowls and they are ok nothing special.

I also blew glass this past weekend and learned a few new things this past Saturday that made making bowls easier for me on Sunday to make them. So the whole weekend that is all I made one bowl after another. I also made 2 plates which is a first for me and one is round (shocker) the other one is off a little due to the frit that I placed in the plate did not get hot enough to smooth out and move.

I will get some time here soon to get some new pictures of the my handmade blown glass work.

Wonders who even looks here!!!

Well seems like no one even looks at my blog except my brother! If you come look at my page please leave me some feedback.

I have not been able to get to the glass shop since I was last there and I am going back on Friday. So the pieces that were made on Sunday will finally get picked up and I am just waiting to see how they turned out. I got a few ideas to try but nothing shocking. I plan on trying to make a plate and maybe use some bar stock since I have never done that in a piece.

More of Saturday's Glass

Ok here are some more of Saturday's Glass pieces.

Here is the second MUG that I attempted to make. It is white with black optic mold then spun just a little....well a lot. But this was my second attempt at a hand it came out ok just alittle off stright but you can still use it not that much off.

I learned something about black....There is no real black when it comes to glass it is either a really dark blue or a really dark purple.

Well here is the next peice of glass and the final one of the day. It is a bowl with the oppisite striation deal. It again did not work out well dont know if it was the colors or the maker. Most likely the maker. Then again it is still really nice. I used a yellow one of the guys had at the shop not really sure of the actuall name of the yellow but it is yellow and a firn green. I really like this peice the two colors are really nice. The piece is about 8 to 9 inches around and about 7 or 8 inches high. Well that is all I have for Saturday except fo the MUG that I dont have yet but more to come as soon as I can get over to the shop and pick them up. If not this weekend it will have to be the weekend after that when I back for my second run in the shop this month. I am so glad I get in more this month.

Saturday Shop Time!!

Well at the start of the day it was going awsome for me. The first peice was one I have not made before. A "Mug" I have made glasses but never placed a handle on anything before so this was new to me. BUT due to the lear not being all the way cool from the night before with the big vase in it I was forced to place it in the baby lear. I dont have a picture of this mug yet due to on Saturday night the controls for the cool down were not set and the peice stayed warm all night long. On the other hand all the other stuff from Saturday I picked up Sunday. And here we go.

First there is a bowl that I tried to make out of copper ruby red that turned out nice alittle smaller than I would have like but still a nice little peice. Here is a shot from the side and then one from the top. This one is only about 4 inches high and about 5 to 6 inches around.



Second here is another bowl with something I have never tried again using the optic mold and making the striation of the two colors in oppisite directions. It did not work out that well it is something I am going to have to work on to get them to stay put on the first color. This bowl has the copper ruby red and iris gold in it for the two different colors. The peice is about 6 or 7 inches around and about the same in height. My spin out is getting alittle better but still needs work.

Friday night!!!

Well it started off good. I was stoked all day because I knew that I was going to get into the shop to make some glass. When I got to the shop we had a demo of how to make a vase using bar stock and encomo (spelling) cups. I forgot the camera to take some pictures of how it was going but it turned out very nice and quite large about 24 to 26 inches tall and about 10 inches around at the biggest spot. Then it was time to play I was just going to make a glass with some color in it to get back into the grove of making something. This is how it turned out.
The first on is from the side it is not a big glass but the picture does not do it justice. The outside has a reducing iris gold that does not show up on the picture. I was disappointed in the glass in the point that the optic in the glass did not come out. If you look closely on the far picture you can make out the small striation that the gold what supposed to have that did not make it when it got reduced. No a big deal but not what I was looking for in the glass. IT HOLDS WATER!! That is all that counts when I have not been in the shop for over a month and a half.
